Observational learning: a technique for elucidating S-R mediation processes.

چکیده
Os watched naive models (Ms) perform at a visual discrimination avoidance task. In a 2 X 2 design, task apparatus for M was either in the same orientation or rotated relative to that subsequently used for O, and hand used by M was either the same or different from that later to be used by 0. Os' test data conformed in near detail to the prediction that positive transfer would be proportional to similarity between visual stimuli received from M's performance and those later to be received from correct performance ("performing stimuli"). It is suggested that the observational learning paradigm may generally be useful for studying the mediation processes of S-R theory, the data of the present experiment indicating that mediating stimuli are more effective the more they approximate performing stimuli.

The effect of self-control feedback on the learning of generalized motor program and parameters during physical and observational practice
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of self-control feedback on the learningof generalized motor program and parameters during physical and observational practice. Participants (n=90) were randomly assigned to physical and observational practice (self-control, yoked and instructor KR) groups. They practiced a sequential timing task. The task required participants to press four k...
متن کاملFeuerstein's Theory of Mediation and Its Impact on EFL Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy
Earlier self efficacy studies have been blamed for their methodological weakness and their mere reliance on self-report, survey, and correlational techniques for data collection. The purpose of this study; therefore, was to assess the impact of Feuerstein’s theory of mediation on EFL teachers’ sense of efficacy through direct observation rather than self reports and to use experimental techniqu...
متن کاملInvestigating the Processes and Means Involved in EAP Teacher Learning: A Sociocultural Analysis of In-Service Teachers' Experience as They Professionally Learn
There is little understanding of the processes and means involved in teacher learning. Further research is needed to better understand what happens when teachers learn. Therefore, using sociocultural theory (SCT) as a theoretical framework, English for Academic Purposes (EAP) teacher learning was documented and examined. To achieve this goal, an in-depth description of nine in-service EAP teach...
متن کاملMerging two variables (observational learning and self-talk), is not preference one variable evermore
Observing a model let learners to make a plan of action that can be used for learning motor skills. Moreover, self-talk is a conversation that performers use it either apparently or secretly in order to think about their performance and reinforce it. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of observational learning, self-talk and combination of both on boy’s perform...
متن کاملThe Conceptual Development of In-service EFL Teachers’ Perception of Grammatical Mediation on Three Planes: A Sociocultural Perspective
The present study, following Vygotskyan Sociocultural theory in education, and inspired by Rogoff’s conceptualization (1995, 2003) of development, aimed at conceptual development of in-service EFL teachers. To this end, two Iranian EFL teachers with pseudonyms (Tara and Sara) were selected as participants of the study. The participating teachers were first taught the sociocultural c...
